Our New Hutch

This is the before and after on our dining room.  We needed a hutch with more storage than what we had, and we also wanted a nicer piece of furniture that would better match our new dining room table set.

This is the piece we've used in this space since we moved in this house.  It's served us really well as a toy chest.  This room used to be carpeted and purely a toy room, and it was a good way to store a lot of the toys in a way that didn't look messy.  But it was time to move on.

We couldn't find a hutch that was what we wanted.  Looking for used ones on Craigslist got us nowhere, and any ones we found in furniture stores were overpriced and not what we wanted anyway.  But we heard about a custom furniture maker it Kansas City, Unruh Furniture.  They hand-make every piece of furniture, so you can have it made to your exact specifications, including dimensions, wood, finish, and layout of drawers, shelves, etc.  We started with a base model of the Belmont Hutch and customized it to fit our exact needs and our exact space.  We ordered it a couple months ago, and yesterday was our delivery date.  We were excited to see the delivery truck back up to our house.

This is what we have now.  We really like it.  It's beautiful with the Antique Cream finish, and it looks great in that space.  There were cheaper solutions out there, but for getting a great-looking piece that's high quality and custom-made to our specifications, we think it was totally worth it.
